While their loved ones slaved away at work and school, a lucky group of ladies who lunch went for a lovely midday munch-up in Mayflower Street on Monday – Mayflower Chopstix Beijing Noodle. Most of the yummy-mummies feasted on noodles or rice and a side order. My ginger duck noodles and pork and prawn won tons, with jasmine tea to drink went down a treat – all for under £12. Not only was the food good value, this eatery was CLEAN, COMFORTABLE and FRIENDLY.
Apart from a couple of chinese students, a lone man and the group of friends, this joint was deserted. Stepping outside this oriental oasis the diners were faced with a rather concrete and decaying urban street feel, but I was heartened to notice three menswear boutiques, independent looking ones – a nice change from the usual chain stores.
Could this backwater become Plymouth’s style quartier? Have your say.
